A few kilometers north of the pleasant and historic town of Sisteron lies the village of Vaumeilh, hidden among the hills of the Alpes de Haute-Provence; an area that, in addition to a great climate, is characterized by hills, mountains and plains on the banks of rivers including the Durance and the Sasse. Les Deux Pigeons is situated on such a plain along the Durance with a beautiful view of the hills and the surrounding mountains. The immediate area is ideal for walking, cycling and car trips in nature and visiting towns and villages.

A visit to the Citadel of Sisteron is definitely recommended. The Terre et Temps museum gives a good impression of the history of this city and its surroundings. In addition, every city and village has its own characteristic weekly market, flea market and village festival. For example, an hour's drive is enough to enjoy the beautiful city of Aix en Provence with its museums, churches, terraces and shops and half an hour further you can settle down in Marseille on a terrace at the old port.

Visit the Gorges de Verdon, Gorges de la Nesque, the lakes of St. Croix and Serre Ponçon and the inexorable 'white lady', the Mont Ventoux. The lavender fields at Valensole and Sault, the fruit and wine routes and the numerous picturesque villages such as Cucheron, the ocher village Roussilon, Banon, Lourmarin and Bonnieux are more than worth a visit.

The internationally renowned gliding field of Vaumeilh is 1200m away from Les Deux Pigeons. Here you can glide and take a flight above this beautiful area. There are also opportunities for hang-gliding and paragliding in the immediate vicinity. Due to the strong thermics, "overland flying" can be practiced excellently.

Going out

From Les Deux Pigeons you can take beautiful walks, for example along the river Syriez, up the mountain Hungry or further up the steeper mountains. In Sisteron there is an opportunity to practice climbing. You can of course cool off in our own swimming pool, but in Sisteron there is a "plan d'eau", accessible for free, with sun and play meadows and a view of the Citadel. North of Laragne, at Lac de Riou, you can rent pedal boats, canoes and surf boards. The Gorges of Verdon, de la Nesque and Méouge are ideally suited for hiking, fishing, bathing and canoeing. For those who want to "hit the ball", there are beautifully situated golf courses in Digne and Gap with 9 and 18 holes. Horse riders can go to Orpierre, Ribiers and Saint Etienne les Orgues. In St.Jean Montclar, close to the Lac de Serre Ponçon, skiing is possible on various pistes in the months November to March. Ski equipment can be rented on site. In the summer months it is a beautiful walking area. For cycling fans: In the past 3 years, the Tour de France has already flashed past our driveway twice. The area is ideal for cycling and mountain biking.
